The HSBC Climate Partnership 2011: Notes from a five year journey

Notes from a five-year journey

As HSBC's flagship Climate Partnership draws to a close, 46 individual stories which highlight the programme's impressive achievements have been brought together in a book, 'Notes from a five year journey'.

Back in 2007, the Partnership set out to combat the urgent threat of climate change by inspiring action by individuals, businesses and governments worldwide. To do this, we worked with four partners who rank amongst the world’s most respected environmental organisations: The Climate Group, Earthwatch Institute, Smithsonian Tropical Research Institute and WWF.

After five years, US$100 million and the hard work of over 100,000 people, the Partnership has delivered many ground breaking achievements. Today 32 million more people have access to cleaner water than before the project started; three million hectares of forestland has been protected &ndash the equivalent to the landmass of Wales; and low carbon technology is helping ten of the world’s biggest cities to cut carbon emission more quickly.

Over 2,200 HSBC colleagues became climate champions, and in total HSBC employees gave 63,000 days of volunteering time.

This interactive book showcases what can be achieved when world-leading environmental organisations work together in partnership.
